How long skydiving

After you complete your check in process, it is time to wait for your skydive. How long you wait is completely dependent on if we have had any weather delays or other miscellaneous delays. In the world of skydiving many things can occur that could delay your skydive.

Sometimes customers board a skydiving airplane within 30 minutes of getting out of their Orientation class. Other times, the wait can be several hours.

Please be prepared and respectful of our changing conditions and understand that we are working hard to have everyone skydive in a timely fashion. Once you are harnessed up and ready for your skydive, we send you down to the airplane with your instructor. The plane ride takes about 20 minutes in total to reach altitude at 14, feet. Once you reach this altitude the instructors will do a final gear check and let you know that your time to skydive is approaching.

After you exit the airplane, your free fall time will be 60 seconds! The sport of 'swooping' is all about increasing the speed of descent and to get faster landings and cover more ground. An experienced solo skydiver will probably be under parachute for closer to 3 minutes. Though the skydive itself takes just a few minutes, the overall experience is a bit longer. As a tandem skydiver, when you arrive to the dropzone, one of our team members will get you signed in and sort out any paperwork.

Next, you'll need a brief from one of our tandem skydiving instructors. This lasts around 20 minutes, and covers everything you need to know, from the body position you need to adopt for freefall to the importance of lifting your legs up for landing. We'll also give you some information about the equipment and make sure you know what to expect when your turn to jump comes around. Then, there's the airplane ride. This usually lasts around 20 minutes, during which you'll take in the views and have the chance to get involved in some crazy skydiver handshakes and pre-jump excitement!
