Why final fantasy 7 is overrated

User Info: 1Tekkaman. X , easily. Really, really doesn't deserve the hype. I swim through a sea of stars. That fact is this board in a nutshell, I think User Info: haidox. For me XII is definitely the most overrated. I hated pretty much everything about XII especially the story, battle system, and main characters. PSN: haidox "Listen to my story. User Info: flkid. A middle tier FF propped up to be the greatest thing since sliced bread. Seems JP has superior taste.

User Info: BraskasStaff. Lol I love both X and XII and loved the battle system, especially once the remaster took place and you had the two job boards per character, the super weapons etc Their usage boils down to people thinking they're in a position to judge what should be popular and what shoudn't be.

I don't think anyone has that right, because no one can predict what will catch on. FFVII happens to be one of my favorite games, but when you compare it to modern games, many parts of it haven't aged well, one of them being the graphics as others have stated.

I think the amount of criticisms leveled at it these days is because the more people who know of it, the more people will play it, and statistically, the greater number people who will express an opinion of not liking it.

After all, there are plenty of games I've played that are popular and I'm sure are good, but couldn't get into for one reason or another. There's also how I think it's "safer" to criticize it because it was probably a sin to say anything negative about it back in its day. It's over a decade old now--by game standards, it's a classic and a relic. Final fantasy 7 needs to die! Same with Finak fantasy 13! And yes just the simple truth. We need more Final fantasy 8 and 9.

Story- Sephiroth which is considered the main villian and calls Cloud a pupet, is actally a pupet of Jenova, and the whole plan was Jenova's. Gameplay-The battle system was too much casual for me, the fact that FFVII was the most annoying game at getting chests, items, etc, and even continuing in the story, becuase of it was the first FF in 3D, and failed with the 3D.

Not that much, but funbase- many times when I see that people don't like the game, some fans just curse them and get mad. Too bad FF7 IS getting a remake and it'll overshadow 15 and leave 15 to die with it's shitty characters. Emo Noctis, trash cook, whiny bitch, steroid stereotype. I can see why people praise it so much and why it's such a beloved entry in the franchise, but it's not my favorite Final Fantasy.

Don't get me wrong, the story, characters, music and gameplay are amazing, but for me, it's just a really amazing entry. For me, the best one is Final Fantasy IV! The first game in the franchise to go neck deep into storytelling and really give an awesome heck of a good ride! You can post now and register later. However, for any fan who's seen him outside of his element, he just feels off. When Cloud appears in Kingdom Hearts , for example, he's just a brooding anime boy with a big sword.

He's too cool for all the Disney nonsense and avoids the plot at all costs. Again, Cloud can't be blamed for wanting to avoid the plot, but he's woefully underdeveloped as a character. His character in the Dissidia games shares a similar tragic fate, where the ultra-seriousness is all he has to his name. Advent Children , while technically a sequel, has bigger problems than Cloud. One thing that was always a part of Cloud's character and got a spotlight in the remake was his sense of humor.

Cloud has always been a snarky guy, but the original translation didn't do him many favors. The remake shows that Cloud is a bit of a dork. He enjoys messing with people, talking-trash, and sliding in snide comments when they're needed. He's a guy who definitely just needs a good nap to be less grumpy. Some of the best lines in the remake come from Cloud, including his attempt at a show of concern for Wedge earlier in the game. This is the guy who said "let's mosey" before challenging a being with supreme power, after all.

An absurd moment in both the original and the remake happens early on. After the battle with Airbuster, Cloud is send falling down from the upper crust of Midgar down into a church in the slums.

He shatters the roof, but lives with hardly a scratch on him. Aerith claims that magic flowers kept him safe, but it's just one example of his powerful plot armor.

His strength and skill often goes beyond what is reasonably possible even in a sci-fi fantasy world with magical rocks Materia. User Info: Inxentas. The story just never grabbed me. Kept you waiting, huh? Inxentas posted The story never grabbed you so that makes the game overrated?

User Info: SoullessRaptor. I'd say because it's become far too much of a sacred cow, and people ignore other games just to claim it did things first or was better. They overlook flaws to say it is perfect, despite things like limited graphics or some very spotty pacing "You are not alone, and you are not strange. You are you, and everyone has damage. Be the better person"-KS devteam. SoullessRaptor posted They overlook flaws to say it is perfect, despite things like limited graphics or some very spotty pacing Hmm.

I see people make fun of FF7 for having "box monster characters" all the time. And somewhat true. Veggeta X posted Yes, some do. But the diehards defend it as perfect regardless.
